This past week, Steele Studios was invited to the first monthly Spoken Word event hosted by Suk and Ja'Lisa. On November 15, the two women hosted Sapphic Saturdays.
The Sapphic Saturdays was exactly that: a room full of softness, sisterhood, and a love that felt familiar. Like being held by someone who understands you without explanation.
During the event the women where presented with spoken word performances, karaoke, and game night.

The women's poem's carried their own value, and every voice added to a collective rhythm of healing and expression. We had the chance to speak with Ja’Lisa and asked her, How would she would describe the Sapphic Saturdays? She stated, “If I could describe how Sapphic Saturdays felt in one word, it’d be joyful.”

The women gathered for their event at a beloved local juice bar known simply as Juiced, in downtown Raleigh. A community staple where fresh fruit smoothies, natural herbs, and holistic wellness come together beneath one roof. Since opening its doors in 2019, Juiced has served as more than a business; it has become a quiet sanctuary for healthier living, a place where neighbors can pause, breathe, and choose nourishment over haste.
With every cup blended and every herb carefully selected, Juiced continues to honor its mission of uplifting the community through accessible, wellness-centered options. It has stood as a steady bridge between old traditions of natural remedies and the modern desire for intentional self-care making it the perfect backdrop for an event grounded in empowerment, connection, and growth.
